Yahoo Answers is becoming a social interacting phenomenon like YouTube or MySpace. It was designed for those who are curious about the things in this world but are too afraid to ask. Also, this allows people to share their knowledge with the rest of the world. It is a good place to learn more about stuff that you really need to know.
Nowadays a lot of question/answer scripts are available in market. When we started our survey on it, we found a Yahoo answer clone script with fewer shortcomings – ‘Anova’ in the market. Its main advantage is that users can ask and provide answers in audio and video formats apart from the usual text format.
It also offers features to create and maintain user profiles on site with avatars to establish users’ own distinctive identities online. Anova supports SEO friendly url(s) for questions, forums and blogs. It also enables users to publish frequently updated content such as Popular Blogs and Forums and Recent Questions and Answers.
One minor drawback is that you need to have Red5 installed on your server for the audio and video recording, and unfortunately not all hosts support this. So if you require these features, you will have to pay a little bit more for your hosting.
